latest developments

1) Gigantic-ness
Monroe is so big. People routinely stop me to chat about her and guess that she's 8 or 9 months old. Nope! I've seen babies who were walking and starting to talk who were about her size.
This week, we had to buy a special, expensive, fancy-pants convertible carseat--the only one on the market that allows you to keep your baby rear-facing (safest for babies under 1) until they weigh THIRTY FIVE pounds. Reveiwers on the internet were generally puzzled as to why someone would be looking for this feature... as one person put it, "If your one-year old weighs 35 pounds, finding a carseat is the least of your problems." I can see why they laugh, because the average weight of a one-year-old is about 21 pounds. But the current weight of my 5 month-old is nearly 22 pounds!!! She just might be the one for the record books!

2) Traveling
Monroe has known how to roll on to her belly for months now, and about a month ago she learned to roll the other way (from her belly to her back.) Thursday, she figured out how to put those two skills together and now she's ON THE MOVE rolling over and over across the floor. Let the childproofing begin... yesterday!!!!!!!

  1. The kids across the street were all big like that until they started walking. Then they slimmed down and looked the right size, all healthy and active.

  3. What size does she wear now? I'm guessing 12m.

I guess I should have given you the cute little 9m outfit at Christmas :(
