How to make biscuits with a one-year old:
1) Get about 4 square feet of floor clean enough to eat off of. You'll see where that comes in shortly.
2) Crouch in the floor to enjoy reading the recipe (or any page from your cookbook) for around 75 seconds, or until child looses interest.
3) Bring your materials and ingredients down to baby-level. Remind yourself the floor is clean.
4) Start with the idea of giving your child a bowl "just like mommy's" and a spoon "just like mommy's" so that she can follow along on her own (and stay out of your bowl.)
5) Allow that idea to escalate until the situation has become a total photo op:
6) Once your baby is distracted with her own bowl, all the measuring spoons, a pan lid, the whisk, a slotted spoon, and The Joy of Cooking, then you should be able to get away with rolling out the biscuits without any interference:
7) Since Master Chef Junior will inevitable eat lots of whatever is in her bowl, I suggest a wholesome blend of whole-grain flour and oat bran. Who knew you could get a baby to eat so much plain oat bran?
8) Don't get so busy taking pictures that you forget what's baking. And enjoy!
What a cute, beautiful baby---almost as cute as her

Okay... we've learned that there may be a down side to oat bran. I won't say more.
