We started things off right with a visit to Luxxe, for the best cappuccino in Southern California.
Monroe saw this photo of an Italian sculpture on the wall in the coffee shop and started saying "Dada, dada!" :-)
We rambled down to the farmer's market by way of the bookstore and the dino fountain. We kept our plans aimless because Monroe has been under the weather and we never knew how well she was going to do with any given plan.
Eben had a valentine's day secret outing planned for a very long time--since Christmas in fact. I didn't know where we were going until we arrived at the Broad Stage, a new performance hall in Santa Monica, for a performance by String Theory.
String Theory combines some inventive musicians with a group of dancers and some other art elements to create a celebration of strings. They are known for their crazy invented instruments. At our show, they had created a giant stringed instrument that stretched throughout the whole concert hall and could be played by up to 5 people at once.
It was an amazing and unusual evening and I was so grateful to Eben for planning the whole thing (even securing a babysitter.) MAJOR hubby points were logged for this one!!
