Uncharted 2 wins 10 Interactive Academy Awards

This is a small break from Monroe news to deliver a congratulation to Eben. His latest video game project at his new company, Naughty Dog, just keeps raking in the honors. This year, UNCHARTED 2: AMONG THIEVES won 10 awards at the 13th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards. Interactive Achievement Awards are determined by a vote of qualified Academy and IGDA members, so it's essentially the "academy awards" of video games.

Uncharted 2's awards include:
  • Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design

  • Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition

  • Outstanding Achievement in Game Play Engineering

  • Outstanding Achievement in Story - Original
(this is like getting an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay)

  • Outstanding Achievement in Visual Engineering
(a more technical award, and probably the one to which Eben's work on special effects most contributed.)

  • Outstanding Achievement in Animation
(this is kind of like getting an Oscar for Cinematography)

  • Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction
(this is like getting an Oscar for Best Director)

  • Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction
(this is like getting an Oscar for Best Director)

  • Adventure Game of the Year
(this is similar to getting a Golden Globe for a specific category such as best comedy or best drama)

and....

!!! Game of the Year !!!

Eben is very happy and grateful to have worked on such a great title on such a fantastic team.
