Venice Canals Holiday Boat Parade 2

Every year we visit our good friends Chris and Gina for the Venice Canals Holiday Boat Parade where residents of the canal neighborhood in Venice create holiday-themed boats and parade them down the canals. (Last year we even got to help make a float.)

First we got all ready for church. Monroe lasted the whole service playing happily in the nursery, woo hoo!

After an afternoon nap in the stroller, we had lunch and then headed to the Canals, one of the hidden treasures of Venice, CA.

Monroe was very excited to see our friends and immediately leaped for Megan's arms (but eventually forsook her for the ever-popular Aunt Naomi, of course.)
This was my favorite float:

We were treated to an amazing sunset. These are actually a rarity in Southern California where our cloudless skies typically make the sunset a rather simple affair.

Monroe melted down at about 6:30 and we hit the road, blasting Christmas carols to entertain her. It was fantastic fun and now we're counting down the days until Christmas travels begin!!

  1. Beautiful sunsets aren't quite a rare in the canals in the winter - I think the water catches any kind of light and doubles the beauty!
