Monroe's Party, Part 2

When your dad is a talented artist, DIY decorations take on an entirely different level of awesome. Eben made these two life-sized standees of Snow White and the wicked queen out of poster board and colored pencils. Each presided over her own table. Snow White, appropriately, beautified the spread of sweets and the drinks, while the queen reigned over a creepy cauldron of apples on the table with our crafts and games.

Monroe had 5 preschool guests and many more grown up friends. I kept saying that 5 kids would be a "small" party, but the park felt full when we were all there! Here's a picture of a few of the girls at the party decorating their sparkly queen crowns (from the Wicked Queen's spooky table.)

Monroe loved seeing all her friends!

The kids didn't have a monopoly on the fun--grown ups got into the spirit wearing bow headbands, trying the crafts, and putting on name tags to show which of the seven dwarfs corresponded most to their own personalities. I love that I have the kind of friends who are totally entertained by (and entertaining at) a child's birthday party!

We wrapped up the party with apple-cake (after which Monroe and her best friend Olivia did a little bike and scooter riding while the rest of the guests took off.) When the all the events of the morning were over, we retired to our house for a little R & R... and of course, a screening of Snow White!

Happy third birthday Monroe,
Happy seventy-third birthday Snow White!
