New Social Security data for names used during 2006 was recently published, so of course I had to check out the latest charts! The big news for our two choices is that as of 2006 Adelaide has re-emerged into the top 1,000 US baby names. That still doesn't make it common--HARDLY! As you can see by the righthand column of the graph below, Adelaide was used less than 100 times for every million babies born in the US, a minuscule percentage (don't let the tallness of the graph fool you!) Monroe, whether used for boys or girls, hasn't emerged into the top 1,000 in 30 or 40 years.
